Home ownership Initiative
Nuestra will begin construction on 38 for-sale homes in 2016, part of our campaign to provide low- and moderate-income residents opportunities to remain in Roxbury.
- Kasanof Homes: On Edgewood Street off of Blue Hill Avenue, Nuestra Comunidad will build 16 for-sale homes. The income ranges eligible to buy are under 80% of Area Median Income (AMI) (under $67,000 for a family of three) and under 100% of AMI (under $84,000 for a family of three).
- Harlow Street: Nuestra Comunidad is building four condo homes on a lot at the corner of Harlow and Howard Streets, near the Kroc Center.
- Alaska Street: Nuestra Comunidad is building two homes on an Alaska St. lot near the corner of Perrin St, in the Moreland historic district.
- Bartlett Place: Nuestra Comunidad and partner Windale Developers plan 16 for-sale condo homes on Guild St. known as Bartlett Station. There will be two affordable units and 14 market-rate units.
Bartlett Place, a development by Nuestra Comunidad and partner Windale Developers, is an innovative urban mixed-use development that will enhance the historic Forthill neighborhood, bridging Roxbury’s bustling Dudley Square and the adjoining Fort Hill and Tommy’s Rock neighborhoods. On a site that today is an urban wasteland – a vacant, eight-acre former bus yard – the new Bartlett Place will be a vibrant creative district featuring a public events plaza, public market, shops and interactive arts. Housing will satisfy the growing need for market-rate rental and homeownership housing, as well as homes designed for moderate-income families to afford. Energy sustainability using green technology will make Bartlett a green and creative village. Tapping Roxbury’s rich artistic population, Bartlett Place will be unique in the amount and quality of its public art. The public space will feature installations by visual artists, ranging from street sculpture to murals; creations by artists-in-residence for shoppers to view or even to join in the creative process; rotating visual arts displays; and diverse performance programming encompassing music, singing, theater and dance. Live-work space and the rich arts environment will attract artists and other creative people. For more information, click here.
Mattapan Station Redevelopment
Nuestra Comunidad and its partner Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) are creating a transit-oriented development at Mattapan Station that will contribute to the revitalization of Mattapan Square, including 135 apartment homes affordable to families at a range of income levels, and new ground-floor retail space. Nuestra Comunidad and POAH are beginning the development process by seeking neighborhood input through a series of community meetings. Keep up to date with progress and announcements by liking the development’s Facebook page.
Nuestra Comunidad plans to build 48 affordable apartment homes as a part of its Dudley Crossing development at the corner of Dudley and Hampden Streets. Dudley Crossing will replace Nuestra Comunidad’s first-ever housing development, while preserving and increasing the number of affordable apartments available to Roxbury families.
