Our Mission

Nuestra Comunidad is devoted to building the wealth and health and enhancing the physical, economic, and social well-being of Roxbury and other underserved populations in greater Boston through a community-driven process that promotes self-sufficiency and neighborhood revitalization.

Nuestra accomplishes this community revitalization mission by:
-
Building and selling affordable homes in order to close the racial wealth gap;
-
Leveraging construction spending to achieve industry-leading levels of contracting with Minority Business Enterprises and hiring workers of color;
-
Using cultural economic development to sustain Roxbury businesses and artists;
-
Developing high quality mixed-income rental housing, including artists housing, to stabilize communities and prevent displacement; and
-
Engaging neighbors to plan economic development programs and projects aligned with a shared vision for closing the racial wealth gap in Boston.
Our Story

44 years
and counting
Nuestra Comunidad has worked in the Roxbury community and nearby Boston neighborhoods since 1981.

Hundreds of homes
Nuestra has built and sold nearly 200 homes to new home owners in Roxbury, generating $35 million in equity. Approximately $23 million more in equity will be realized for another 166 homeowners at Bartlett Station.
Continuous
job creation
Nuestra has paid more than $100 million to MBE construction businesses; created more than 500 jobs for workers of color; and placed dozens of local businesses in our commercial spaces.

Cultural Pride
Nuestra uses cultural economic development to sustain Roxbury businesses and artists. Our Oasis arts program supports local art projects as well as programs developed by MBE cultural vendors.
